Windscreen wiper blades are often neglected. They are made of rubber and like tyres they wear-out, lose their efficiency. Ideally replace them every 10000 kilometres or 12 months, especially if you drive a lot.

A wash and wax that goes over the windscreen also inadvertently contributes to the problem,
building its own waxy residue.
